Grand Theft Auto 2 ROM Description
“Grand Theft Auto 2” is an open-world action-adventure game developed by DMA Design and published by Rockstar Games. It was first released in 1999 for the PlayStation and later on Microsoft Windows, Dreamcast, and Game Boy Color. The game is the second entry in the Grand Theft Auto series and is set in a fictional city called Anywhere City.
The game is set at an unspecified point in the near future. Grand Theft Auto 2 only has a single town, although it is separated into three distinct districts that are unlocked one at a time: the downtown, the residential, and the industrial areas. The previous game had three cities, while the second only features one. The player, much as in the first game, must answer phones to start different objectives. The game is played from the above perspective in a 3D environment, allowing the player to roam about the city and take any car that catches their attention. The player must first attain a particular score threshold to access new districts. This may be accomplished by completing tasks and committing crimes.
One of the most notable aspects of this game is the 80s Miami setting, which captures the era’s feeling in terms of the atmosphere, fashion, music, and architecture. The game also introduced new gameplay elements, such as properties.
