BMX XXX ROM Description
In the realm of action sports video games, BMX XXX certainly takes a, let’s say, ‘unique’ approach. Crafted by Acclaim and Z-Axis—the duo famous for the Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX series—BMX XXX attempts to inject raunchy humor into a genre known for adrenaline-fueled tricks and stunts. While its developers may have achieved some success with Aggressive Inline, BMX XXX disappointingly veers back to the shortcomings of earlier Dave Mirra games. Beyond the explicit language, full-motion video of strippers, and lowbrow jokes, the gameplay itself often falls flat. The trick system may be deep on paper, but in practice, it’s void of challenge and excitement, bogged down by engine quirks that rob the player of any real sense of achievement.
Contrasting its messy mechanics, the game does bring a few changes to the traditional career mode, adopting a more open-world feel akin to Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4 and Aggressive Inline. Yet, even this can’t save BMX XXX from its incoherent goal-setting and poor execution. Often leaving players baffled, goals range from carrying monkeys and gassy construction workers on your bike to performing confounding tasks that make little to no logical sense.
So, if you’re a fan of the action sports genre, do yourself a favor and download the classic Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series from ROMsdl.NET instead. Not only does it set the bar for skateboarding games, but it also proves that a game doesn’t have to resort to cheap tricks to be entertaining. In the end, BMX XXX is a dissonant mix of immature content and uninspired gameplay that’s best left in the early 2000s where it belongs.
