In 3-D WorldRunner, an old-school 3D game for the Nintendo Entertainment System, get ready for interplanetary action with a nostalgic feel. You will sprint, leap, and shoot your way across eight extraterrestrial worlds full with dangers and creatures as space cowboy Jack. In 1987, WorldRunner’s stereoscopic 3D visuals brought a level of immersion never before seen.
Navigate Jack through quadrant-based levels that scroll, bouncing over pits and using power-up missiles to blast blob monsters. Grab time and health-extending symbols to help you survive more difficult situations. To progress through worlds before the timer goes off, defeat snake bosses.
The unique feature of WorldRunner was its 3D mode, which could be adjusted with red-cyan anaglyph glasses. Planetscapes come to life when 3D is activated, adding depth and dimension. It was psychedelic, but it showcased the NES’s visual power. The action of the forward-scrolling shooter is wonderfully complemented by the 3D effect.
