Scribblenauts ROM Description
Scribblenauts is a puzzle-adventure game developed by 5th Cell and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. It was first released for the Nintendo DS in 2009, and has since been released for a variety of platforms.
In Scribblenauts, players control a character named Maxwell and must use his magical notepad to solve a variety of puzzles. The game’s central mechanic is the ability to write any word and have it appear in the game world as an object. Players can use this ability to create objects and solve problems in a variety of creative ways.
Throughout the course of the game, Maxwell will be tasked with gathering starites. In order to do this, it is common practice to call anywhere from two to four separate things at the same time. There are slower, more general puzzle levels, as well as quicker, more action-oriented levels that are loaded with foes, platforms, switches, and traps. Quite frequently, the summoned objects and characters are required to engage in conversation with one another. Players have the opportunity to accumulate “merits” by completing challenges in unique and inventive ways, such as avoiding the use of weapons in a certain level.
After successfully completing a level, the player is rewarded with a silver star and granted access to the Free Play mode for that level. A gold star is awarded once the level has been finished three times more, each time with a different strategy than the previous one.
One of the standout features of Scribblenauts is its vast and diverse object library, which includes over 35,000 words. This allows players to experiment with a wide range of objects and combinations to solve puzzles, and encourages creative thinking.
