Lengthy challenges include platforming, time limits, and space dogfights to add variety.
Unfortunately, Mace Griffin draws heavily from contemporaries like Halo and Red Faction without bringing much new material to the table. Visuals and audio prove workmanlike rather than inspired. Slapped-on space combat seems underutilized next to robust ground action.
Yet, if you can forgive the lack of originality, there’s fun. Core run and gun gameplay delivers a solid dose of pistol, shotgun, and rocket launcher action. Fans of futuristic military shooters should find familiar comfort despite uncreative trappings.
