Hamsterball ROM Description
Hamsterball: An Exhilarating Experience That May Need Some Adjustments
Launched on February 8th, 2004 on Microsoft Windows, and redesigned on March 25th, 2010 for PlayStation by TikGames, HamsterBall transports you to 15 different racecourses for an immersive experience. This game is similar to Marble Madness, but it has a cute twist where you control a hamster within a clear exercise ball rather than a marble. The idea is straightforward: finish the courses as soon as you can while avoiding numerous obstacles. If you think that’s all there is to it, the game also has a fun multiplayer option called “Rodent Rumble,” in which your goal is to remove the hamsters of your opponents off the course. It even won the 7th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards’ “Computer Downloadable Game of the Year” title.
Let’s now discuss the actuality of the game. Track design is lacking even though it looks like an intriguing blend of Marble Madness and Super Monkey Ball. Yes, you get to steer one of the three adorably adorable hamsters—Spider, Speedy, or Jumper—through bizarre, maze-like tracks. However, the tracks’ simplicity eliminates the obstacle because all paths converge to the destination, rendering paths that diverge meaningless.
There are some exciting moments in HamsterBall even with the dull track ideas. There are sections where the rails make exciting bends and twists, and certain courses even accelerate your small rodent. On the other hand, the game’s graphics may use some improvement. The graphics occasionally fall short of even Wii-level standards, and the vivid colors frequently border on being overpowering.
Another area where the game should be improved is physics. The hamster occasionally bounces off unexpectedly, which gives players less control than they would like. Not to mention motion sickness: it appears that HamsterBall has succeeded in making certain players feel queasy, something that roller coasters and shaky-cam movies were unable to do.
Thus, if you enjoy PS3 games and are looking for something new, you could find HamsterBall to be somewhat interesting yet missing. When it comes to marble maze games, the PS3 gaming population definitely deserves better. These games should ideally strike a delicate mix between captivating physics and well-designed soundtracks.
