You take on the role of Ray in Wheelman ’76, a budding driver attempting to establish a reputation for himself. After making an impression on the girl’s father, Ray finds himself embroiled in a conflict between competing gangs and mafia empires spanning all five boroughs of New York City.
Take on tasks and accomplish goals by utilizing Ray’s aptitude for driving. Drive around the streets in vintage muscle vehicles and exotic whips. Effortlessly transition between vehicle and foot-based action while engaging in covert shootouts with bandits. This gangland story engrosses you with its gritty reproduction of old school NYC and comic book-style sequences.
Even though there are a lot of shooting-based objectives, the highlight is avoiding the cops via traffic thanks to the realistic car handling. Driving through cramped alleys and raising dust in deserted lots evokes the spirit of the original Driver. Just be prepared for a lot of struggle as the assignments get harder and harder as the chapters progress.
