In a fictitious 1980s Japan, thirteen high school kids fight mechs and Kaiju in a non-linear plot that will have gamers on edge.
After Dragon’s Crown, George Kamitani conceived “13 Sentinels” for Vanillaware, which was difficult to build due to workload and development challenges. Kamitani wrote the narrative alone and gave character design to Yukiko Hirai and Emika Kida, assuring a distinct creative approach. The game’s music by Hitoshi Sakimoto and Basiscape enhances immersion.
The Vita version was discontinued after delays after the 2018 PlayStation 4 and Vita release. With one million shipments and digital sales by 2023, “13 Sentinels” exceeded expectations in Japan after poor sales. The game’s narrative and visual design were praised, although some reviews found the RTS elements uninteresting.
