Acquire created the action-adventure game Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed, or Akiba’s Trip 2 in Japan. The game came out in 2013 for many systems, including the PS Vita, PS3, PS4, and PC. It’s the follow-up to the PSP game Akiba’s Trip, and the third game in the series, Akiba’s Trip Festa, was published in November of 2016.

Playing as high school student and otaku Nanashi, the game is set in a 3D version of Tokyo’s Akihabara area. The narrative begins with Magaimono, a shadowy organization, transforming Nanashi into a synthister, a vampire-like superhuman. Shizuku Tokikaze, a synthister with good intentions, comes to Nanashi’s rescue, and the two of them end up fighting the synthisters that are draining the life force of the inhabitants of Akihabara.

It’s a beat ’em up where you can also go on adventures and talk to people! In battle, you must strip your opponents of their clothing to weaken them and expose the synthisters to the sunlight that kills them. The stripping mechanism is treated in a comical and non-explicit manner, contributing to the game’s overall lighthearted atmosphere.

The game strongly emphasizes wandering about Akihabara, chatting with NPCs, and forming bonds with your companions, some of whom can develop into romantic interests with their own branching storylines. In addition to completing tasks for cash, you may shop for equipment, weaponry, and apparel. Your smartphone plays a crucial role in the game, allowing you to communicate with other players, use in-game features like the map and camera, and keep up with social media like Pitter.

Different stances and attack types may be used in battle, and attacks can be chained together to make combos and special actions can be performed with friends. You have access to a broad variety of weapons, many of which may be upgraded, and can aim at your opponent’s head, upper body, or lower body. You may also tailor Nanashi’s stats by modifying his appearance and equipping him with different weapons and armor sets.

The game has a deep and interesting plot that centers on a conspiracy inside the Magaimono group. You’ll meet various interesting people as you play, from Nanashi’s boyhood pal Tohko Sagisaka to his younger sister Nana to the game’s CEO Shion Kasugai to the game’s idol Rin Tokikaze.
