Code: Realize – Guardian of Rebirth ROM Description

The engrossing otome visual novel video game “Code: Realize − Guardian of Rebirth” was initially created by Otomate for the PlayStation Vita. After debuting in Japan in 2014, this well-known game debuted in North America and Europe in 2015. The game has a cast of characters inspired by literary and historical personalities with a distinct steampunk design. These people include the well-known Arsène Lupin, Count Saint-Germain, Abraham Van Helsing, Victor Frankenstein, and Dr. Frankenstein. Following the first success, on November 26, 2016, a fan disc called “Code: Realize Future Blessings” was released. Both games’ English localization was handled by Aksys Games. Additionally, “Code: Realize Shirogane no Kiseki,” a second fan disc, will be made available in Japan for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. Due to the game’s success, M.S.C produced an anime television series that ran from October 7 to December 23, 2017.

The protagonist of the game is a girl named Cardia who, as a promise to her father, lives alone in a confined, abandoned home. The people refer to her as a “monster” because of the terrible poison she carries in her body, which causes whatever her skin touches to decay or melt. When she meets the gallant thief Arsène Lupin, who saves her from the Royal Guards, her life takes a change. From that point on, Cardia sets off on an adventure with Lupin and his friends in search of her father and a remedy for her lethal poison.

The heroine, Cardia Beckford, is a young woman who is demonized because of a poison inside of her that causes everything she touches to melt. Except for her father’s warning to steer clear of love and people until he returns, she has forgotten all memory from the previous two years. Her journey begins when the bold thief Arsène Lupin saves her from being captured by the English troops.

Arsène Lupin is a self-assured and intelligent thief who asserts that nothing is out of his grasp. He is voiced by Tomoaki Maeno in the Japanese version and J. Michael Tatum in the English version. He kidnaps Cardia from the English troops and collaborates with her to accomplish an unspecified aim. He grows fond of Cardia as the plot goes on.

Abraham Van Helsing is a former employee of the covert intelligence agency Twilight, and his voices are provided by Junichi Suwabe in Japanese and Ian Sinclair in English. He is regarded as a military hero and is also known as the Human Weapon because of his amazing fighting abilities. Because he hates Finis so bitterly, Van Helsing wants to kill Finis.

Victor Frankenstein is a former Head Alchemist of the Imperial Court for the English Government, voiced by Tetsuya Kakihara in Japanese and Micah Solusod in English. He discovers Cardia’s Horologium and, being a kind and compassionate man, offers to assist her in finding a means of removing her poison.

Impey Barbicane is a brilliant engineer who wants to develop a method for mankind to travel to the moon. He is portrayed by Showtaro Morikubo (in Japanese) and Chris Guerrero (in English). He also makes delicious food, and Cardia is instantly smitten with him.

Voiced by Daisuke Hirakawa in Japanese and Brandon McInnis in English, Count Saint-Germain is a nobleman who lives in London. By giving Lupin and his associates a place to stay and supporting their operations, he supports them.

Other characters include Finis, the leader of England’s covert intelligence agency Twilight; Delacroix II, a pureblood vampire kid; Alexandrina Victoria, the Queen of London, voiced by Naomi Iida (Japanese) and Stephanie Young (English). She knows Fran (Victor Frankenstein) well, and curiously enough, it was she who gave him the reward. She nonetheless plays a crucial role in the plot despite the risk.

Scotland Yard called a private investigator named Herlock Sholmès to London, and Austin Tindle and Kazuya Murakami respectively provided the Japanese and English voices for the character. He gives the game’s narrative an intriguing twist by giving the detective’s point of view and adding to the game’s complexity.

Father to Cardia and Finis and a well-known scientist in England, Isaac Beckford is voiced by Daichi End (for the Japanese version) and Greg Dulcie (for the English version). He is the author of Code: Realize and an important character in the main plot, influencing Cardia’s actions and motives.

The soundtrack of the game is also outstanding. In the first game, Mao sings the “Floatable” and “Kakan -Love Brought Me Some Eternal Petals-” opening and closing themes. The opening and first closing themes are performed by Mao once again on the fan CD, while the other ending themes are performed by Kaori Oda and SHOJI. All of the song lyrics for the first game were written by Yoshie Isogai, while the music was created by Myu. The songs for the fan disc were organized and written by Hijiri Anze and Naoyuki Osada. Team Entertainment produced the music, while Peak A Soul+ created the BGMs.

In conclusion, “Code: Realize − Guardian of Rebirth” is a masterfully designed otome visual novel that blends a distinctive steampunk look, engaging storytelling, and a cast of fascinating characters. Its standing as a notable game in the genre has been cemented by its popularity and critical praise, which have inspired several fan CDs and an anime adaptation. “Code: Realize − Guardian of Rebirth” is a game that’s worth checking out if you enjoy visual novels, steampunk design, or just a decent narrative.
