In 2012, “Escape Plan” debuted as the PlayStation Vita’s flagship puzzle adventure, set in a world rendered entirely in black and white. This was the first game produced by Fun Bits Interactive, and it bore the distinctive touch of “Fat Princess” producer Chris Millar. “Escape Plan” gained recognition for its revolutionary touch and gyroscopic elements, as well as its sharp visuals and unusual blend of the horrific and the hilarious.
The main goal of “Escape Plan” is for the player to free Lil and Laarg from dangerous snares and traps. They are the game’s central characters. Players must navigate the protagonists through a deadly maze of dangers using the Vita’s multitouch screens and a shake or tilt of the device. A seemingly innocuous brick on the floor could be the start of a fatal sequence in which survival and a terrible conclusion are determined by a single tap or swipe.
The gameplay involves precise movements and fast thinking. When Lil and Laarg are inflated with helium, the Vita turns into a balance scale and tilts, allowing them to float to safety. It’s imperative to move quickly since a single squeeze on the console, applying pressure to both the front and the back at the same time, could save the characters from an early grave.
After the enthusiasts conquered the first few tasks, “Escape Plan” added “Bakuki’s Lair” to its maze. Soon after the game’s release, 19 more puzzles were made available as downloadable content (DLC), allowing players to delve deeper into the heroes’ pasts. In addition, an update that came with the DLC improved the gameplay in response to feedback from the community. These changes included a revised Star Rating system and improved tap block control, which set the stage for even more improvements down the road.
