Invizimals: A New AR Gaming Concept
The PSP game Invizimals is an ambitious step toward augmented reality (AR), notably in monster-battling. The game uses the PSP camera to immerse players in a realm of unseen animals. The Pokémon and Digimon-inspired concept promises a novel mix of virtual and real-world engagement.
Players locate, capture, and interact with Invizimals using the PSP camera. To identify these species, the game uses a special “trap card,” a camera sensor. From the PSP screen, players may see Invizimals near the trap card on a desk, floor, or other surface.
Scan things by color to capture these animals. This part of the game is challenging since not all environments are good for scanning. Mini-games to capture Invizimals include feeding and evading assaults. Augmented reality technology can be unreliable, especially when players move or shake the PSP, leading the camera to lose sight of the trap card.
Battle Invizimals in fight clubs across the world with live-action video chat sequences for a cinematic experience. Battles always take place in the player’s close environs, which feels out of place given the worldwide travel storyline.

Invizimals uses new AR gaming techniques to attract younger audiences. Its lack of complexity and refinement in gaming mechanics may wear off its charm rapidly. Technology and a better gameplay experience might boost this series. The game might become more intriguing with innovations like the PS3’s PS Eye and the use of collecting cards or products to launch new Invizimals, challenging monster-battling brands.
