Ratloop’s Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken is a unique platform adventure game with action, comedy, and a dramatic story. This game has been popular on Windows, PlayStation 3, Vita, OS X, and Linux, with a PlayStation 4 version coming in November 2020. Hardboiled Chicken, a remake of Rocketbirds: Revolution!, adds stereoscopic 3D and a full single-player and cooperative adventure.

The game centers around Hardboiled Chicken, an anthropomorphic rooster with a jetpack and weaponry. Players face non-scrolling platform segments and aerial gunfights in 12 chapters. In platform stages, players run, leap, and shoot like in Oddworld and Rolling Thunder. Penguin infantry and boss foes add variety to the game’s combat.

Brain Bugs allow Hardboiled to control opposing soldiers and use them against their comrades or to solve problems. Strategy and furious shootouts keep players challenged in the game.

The ‘Jetpaction’ stages build excitement. The gameplay is varied as Hardboiled infiltrates and destroys opposing zeppelins in midair and inside fights. Players can also find Cardinals and budgie people that help with fighting and puzzles.

Two players may complete Budgie Commandos tasks in the cooperative campaign. Each character has a distinct weapon, and problems demand collaboration. This mode changed the game’s mechanics, making it exhilarating yet distinct from the single-player story.

Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken has a captivating plot. Hardboiled’s quest to overthrow iL Putzki and free Albatropolis is fascinating and well-integrated throughout the game. Flashbacks show Hardboiled’s evolution from Penguin soldier to rebel. Hardboiled defeating Putzki in the game’s finale is rewarding and sets up a sequel.

A rescue mission is added to the co-op campaign to save the general’s daughter. The Budgie Commandos’ objective takes them through humorous and action-packed levels in this campaign.

Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken’s platforming action, plot, and cooperative gameplay all unique. Its varied stages, difficult puzzles, and amusing story make it a remarkable platform adventure game.
