You take on the role of Georgio Manos in the Roundabout universe, the avant-garde driver of a limousine that is always in motion. Your purpose? to drive your opulent vehicle through the busy city streets, picking up eccentric passengers and expertly avoiding obstacles. Though Crazy Taxi’s passenger ferrying and Kuru Kuru Kururin’s rotational tasks may come to mind when playing this game, Roundabout distinguishes out because to its own kind of vehicular ballet.
The narrative at the center of this rotating race is broken up by full-motion video clips that introduce the passengers, each of whom has a unique backstory. This elevates the game above simple transportation duties. Amidst all of this is a story of romance, rivalry, and ambition. With a love interest, a villain, and a skeleton sidekick named Jeffrey who takes our hero on an incredible journey powered by sugar dots, Georgio’s life takes a turn fit for a soap opera.
The ridiculous plot of the game—a limo driver competing for love, starting a violent rivalry, going on a hallucinogenic binge, and then escaping to the mountains in a fog of regret—is what makes it so endearing. However, when Georgio summons the bravery to win Elizabeth back by facing a police squad, redemption calls. The story of Roundabout ends with a sweet message of acceptance of oneself, as Elizabeth and Georgio spin off into the sunset.
