In 2001, SpyHunter, a brand so associated with arcade gaming, returned triumphantly for PlayStation 2. This game evolves from the 1983 original, reaching the GameCube, Xbox, Game Boy Advance, Microsoft Windows, OS X, and Tapwave Zodiac.
SpyHunter is a combat vehicle game with high-speed and strategic elements. Players pilot the G-6155 Interceptor, a potent weapon and transport. The remake’s pursue camera gives the espionage mission a racing game vibe, unlike the original’s top-down vision.
Different versions of Peter Gunn’s theme set the tone for the game’s stages and menu displays. Saliva’s “The Spy Hunter Theme” modernizes the game’s historic roots on the soundtrack.
Each of 14 missions, including two training levels, has a main and numerous minor goals. Driving, firing enemy vehicles, and avoiding civilian deaths while destroying targets are the same throughout stages.
