Released on the PlayStation Vita on December 10, 2015, Valkyrie Drive Bhikkhuni is an action game created by Marvelous Entertainment. The females infected with the A-infection on the fictional island of Bhikkhuni fight for dominance over the infection and to keep their loved ones’ hopes alive.

Plot

Girls in their teens and twenties fall prey to a mystery sickness that appears out of nowhere in the game’s environment. This sickness empowers their minds and gives them the means to alter their bodies into murderous instruments of destruction. Researchers have pinpointed a virus as the root cause, and thus far found two distinct viral families, labeled “A-Virus” and “V-Virus.”

In response, the international community passed legislation mandating treatment for anyone afflicted with the virus. Patients afflicted with the “V-Virus” are quarantined on five hidden manmade islands, and Bhikkhuni is known for successfully managing the outbreak. Bhikkhuni’s school is highly sought after because it offers infected young women a chance to recover from the illness.

Two sisters, Rinka and Ranka Kagurazaka, are afflicted with the “V-Virus” and are enrolled as students. Rinka is the more mature sister and exudes an air of innocent elegance that betrays her secret strength. They have no idea that the only way to stop the spread of the virus is for infected people to kill each other.

Game mechanism

Although these framerate reductions are obvious, they have little to no effect on gameplay.
