The game includes all Pokemon from generations 1 and 2, including their evolutions, and 101 Pokemon from generations 3 to 7. In addition, there are over 20,000 custom sprites crafted by the community.

You can battle all 16 gym leaders from the Kanto and Johto regions to earn badges, and explore the full Kanto region with new areas and graphics inspired by generations 4 and 5. After completing the main storyline, you can continue your journey in the Johto region, three years before the events of Gold and Silver, or visit the Sevii Islands to find exotic Pokemon.

There are 25 legendary Pokemon to track down and catch, and you can even nickname your Pokemon directly from the menu. With over 40 sidequests, a WonderTrade simulator, and a faster day/night system, plenty can keep you busy.

You can rematch or trade with NPCs after battling them, and rematched NPCs become stronger each time, eventually evolving their Pokemon. The game includes a Fairy type, a Battle Factory, a Triple Battle lounge, and other battle facilities. You can choose between Classic mode or Random mode or try the special Reversed mode, which flips every trainer fusion. And if you want to speed up the game, there’s an integrated speed-up button.
