Players control Gex, a sharp-tongued gecko with a passion for television, as he ventures into the strange world known as the “Media Dimension.” Having been pulled into this realm of programming by the villainous Rez, Gex must use his unique lizard abilities to traverse 24 diverse levels spread across 5 different genre-themed worlds. From horror houses to sci-fi outposts, Gex climbs, coils, and clings to every surface in sight seeking remote controls that will unlock new areas to explore.

Along the way, Gex will encounter an array of enemies and obstacles, which he can defeat by lashing enemies with his powerful prehensile tail or consuming power-ups that grant abilities like speed or invulnerability. Captivating bonus stages are also hidden throughout, offering high-flying challenges for those patient enough to search every nook and cranny. Comedian Dana Gould lends his voice to the quick-witted Gex, providing humorous commentary that elevates the adventure.
