Dubbed Pokemon SourCrystal, this ingenious hack imbued the classic game with quality updates befitting the modern age. Sweet new sprites dawned Crystal’s party. Statboosts stacked higher for tough trainer rematches. Even hidden biomes blossomed within the Safari Zone oasis.
Best of all, this joyous redo included beloved Pokemon outside Johto’s borders. Houndour and Slugma’s fiery forms now frolicked in forests formerly frozen in Generation 2. Every obtainable pocket monster awaited discovery, from starter to legendaries.
