NBA Jam ROM Description
NBA Jam is a basketball arcade game developed and published by Midway Games. It was first released in 1993, and has since been released on a variety of platforms, including the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Sega Genesis, and Game Boy.
The game features fast-paced, over-the-top gameplay, and features real NBA players, as well as secret characters that can be unlocked through various methods. Players can choose to play as one of the real NBA teams, and can choose to play a single game or a full season.
One of the key features of NBA Jam is its “on fire” mode, which is activated when a player makes three consecutive baskets without the other team scoring. When on fire, the player’s shots are more likely to go in, and their defense is heightened. The mode ends when the opposing team scores, or when the player misses a shot.
NBA Jam was extremely popular upon release, and is credited with popularizing the arcade-style basketball game genre. It has been followed by several sequels, including NBA Jam: Tournament Edition, NBA Jam: Extreme, and NBA Jam: On Fire Edition.
The game has also spawned various spin-off games, including NBA Hangtime, which was released in 1996, and NBA Playgrounds, which was released in 2017. It has gained a dedicated fanbase over the years, and is considered a classic of the sports game genre.
