Robocop Versus the Terminator ROM Description

Robocop Versus The Terminator is a video game released in 1992 for the Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, and Game Boy platforms. It is based on the Robocop and Terminator franchises and features elements from both series.

The comic book series takes inspiration from both the RoboCop and Terminator franchises, but puts its own unique perspective on events by having Skynet send three Terminators back in time to Detroit to guard a charred RoboCop from a lone human soldier who has been sent back in time to eliminate him.

When RoboCop learns that the technology he was built with will be utilized to create the evil Skynet, he decides to wage battle with it alone in the future after the world has been destroyed. The narrative devotes some time to his consciousness, the only remaining piece of him, as it roams the networks of Skynet and tries to mount a counterattack.

While maintaining peace and order in Detroit, the player assumes RoboCop’s control and encounters rather futuristic criminals. Robo will have to make his way through an OCP factory and computer complex to go to the time machine that will transport him to a post-nuclear wasteland in future Los Angeles, where he can deal with the danger. To save mankind from the robots for good, he must travel to that location and destroy the Skynet mainframe.

The game takes the shape of a platformer. While searching for the level’s exit, RoboCop must eliminate a wide variety of adversaries, from common criminals in Detroit to futuristic Terminators and flying Hunter Killer drones at the OCP laboratories and beyond. He is packing a basic gun that, with one upgrade, can fire a scatter shot in any of three directions. However, the gun improvement is destroyed by a single hit. Power-ups replenish your life force, and more lives may be purchased if you run out.
