Tales of Graces ROM Description

Tales of Graces is a role-playing game developed and published by Namco Bandai Games for the Wii console in 2009. The game is part of the Tales series, a popular series of role-playing games known for their immersive stories and well-developed characters.

Story

Asbel and Hubert Lhant, young heirs to the kingdom, are adventuring in the off-limits area of Lhant Hill when they find a girl with violet hair lying in a field of flowers. Since she does not know who she is, the lads come up with the idea to give her a name and settle on Sophie. The youngsters rapidly become friends with both her and a lad called Richard, who would one day rule Windsor, thanks to their mutual acquaintance with Cheria. But when a weird creature attacks the children, Sophie gives her life for the sake of the other children, and the group soon splits up. Asbel embarks on his journey to becoming a knight and enrolls at the Knight Academy to begin his education. After many years have passed, Asbel is almost prepared to take his place among the knights. At the same time, weird monsters from other worlds appear in various parts of the Earth, and Sophie, thought to have passed away many years before, reappears after an absence of that long.

Gameplay

The twelfth installment in the Tales video game series, Tales of Graces, utilizes a gameplay system analogous to its predecessors. Exploring takes place in a field where various goods can be gathered, and optional tasks can be started; nevertheless, coming in touch with an antagonist triggers a fight. The Style Shift Linear Motion Battle System is used during combat; within this framework, standard attacks and special abilities are performed in real-time. The execution of skills takes the form of button combinations, which may be planned out in advance via various menus, and the skills fall into one of two categories: Burst Artes are acts that must be charged before use, such as healing spells, whereas Assault Artes are one-time-use special attacks that may be performed anywhere. Chain Capacity, or CC in-game, is a stat that determines the maximum number of attacks that may be executed in a single combination. When critical hit points are depleted, they can be regained by blocking, walking, or waiting. As a character levels up, the amount of combo components (CC) accessible to them grows. This makes it possible to perform more powerful and complex combinations as more attacks are mastered.

New features

The Eleth Mixer is a brand-new addition to Graces. The Eleth Mixer is an item that can be obtained during adulthood and serves three primary purposes, depending on the things assigned. If food is placed in the Eleth Mixer, the dish will have the opportunity to cook during combat, thereby providing the party with its effects. The Mixer is a valuable tool for farming rare resources since it allows items to be placed in it and replicated. Finally, books given to the Mixer provide specific benefits to the party inside and outside combat. Having the Eleth Mixer in your possession also provides the party with an Eleth Gauge to use in battle. When the gauge is complete, the party can perform Mystic Arts, which are special attacks learned by each character throughout the story and deal damage based on how high the party’s current hit count is. These attacks are only available when the gauge is full.

Conclusion

Tales of Graces generally received positive reviews upon release, with critics praising the immersive story, well-developed characters, and improved graphics and gameplay. However, some reviewers criticized the repetitive nature of the battles and the lack of innovation in the series. Despite this, the game was a commercial success, selling over one million copies worldwide.
