The Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces is a flight simulation game developed and published by Namco Bandai Games for the Wii console in 2009. The game is based on the anime film The Sky Crawlers and follows the story of a group of young pilots known as “Kildren” who are trained to fight in a never-ending war.
After years of nonstop warfare and conflict, the world has finally arrived at a state of peace that will stay. But because conflict has been a constant presence in their lives for such a long time, the people of the globe are frantic to find a solution to the problems that have arisen in this newly discovered life of peace.
The government has begun a new series of conflicts to reduce the tension in the country and win back the favor of its citizenry. These recent battles are not a power fight between antagonistic nations; they are events sponsored by private firms. Military-trained professionals are being hired by either side to do their bidding for them. The wars conducted by these corporations, such as Rostock and Lautern, as well as the regular media broadcasts on them, satisfy and replace the fundamental human impulse to fight by employing the conflict as a spectacle.
The newest member of the Sky Crawlers, a young pilot with the codename “Lynx” who has just joined the squadron, is working his way up the ranks until he becomes embroiled in a top-secret new military experiment to make pilots immortal. Join Lynx on his quest to rule the sky while he uncovers the secret behind the covert new project undertaken by the military.
