Darksiders ROM Description
Welcome to Darksiders and meet War, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Thinking the apocalypse had come, War went to Earth prematurely and was blamed for starting the war between Heaven and Hell.
Throughout the game, War clears his name and reveals the truth. He is supervised by The Watcher, voiced by famous actor Mark Hamill, or Luke Skywalker from the Star Wars films of the 1980s.
War is equipped with quite a few abilities. He can dash, double jump, swim, and glide despite being very heavy. That’s right, glide. In a game where you fight angels and demons, half the enemies fly, but you can’t fly, only glide. But you have to give it to him; despite wearing hundreds of pounds of armor, he moves extremely fast and has terrible breath endurance.
Darksider’s art style is very reminiscent of World of Warcraft. I could easily see War making a cameo in WoW because of the similarities. The graphics are average; there is nothing to shock you. Actually, I wish they polished it more in some segments.
Darksider’s gameplay is something that grows on you. My first impressions were terrible. I just kept mashing the X and Y buttons, which is awful for people with short attention spans. You’d very likely quit and go back to Call of Duty. But hear me out: you unlock more moves and weapons to create combos as you progress, making the combat system far deeper. Overall, the game gets better later on.
I think if God of War and Legend of Zelda had a child, Darksiders would be the illegitimate child of the two. It has Zelda-like dungeon puzzles and God of War-esque finishers. They mesh together, but it could be done better. But, oh well, it was that time period.
Overall, Darksiders is a good game with potential that got wasted. But I had fun playing it, and honestly, that’s what really matters in the end. You either like or hate Darksiders. Surprisingly, it runs better on PS3.
