DmC: Devil May Cry ROM Description
DMC, or Devil May Cry, is a reboot of the old DMC series and is a game that both new players and longtime fans really enjoy.
DMC is an action game where you play as Dante. Dante is the son of Sparda and a Nephilim, meaning he is part demon and part angel. The game focuses on a truly interesting storyline that keeps you engaged throughout. The game has likeable as well as annoying characters. And as the game progresses, you really start to bond with these characters and start to care about them. Each character develops as you progress through the game, and they are really quite different by the end compared to the beginning.
The progression system works really well. You earn rewards for defeating enemies and finding secrets, and you can use this money to upgrade your abilities. You have a total of around 10–12 different pieces of equipment, meaning maxing them out will take a lot of time and quite a few replays before you can unlock everything.
There are a lot of different moves to unlock for Dante, from basic to some quite complex ones, similar to how Super Street Fighter works but, of course, not as complex.
The two main types of gameplay you have are classic, very satisfying combat, and platforming, which is equally satisfying. You have two different grappling hooks, meaning moving around isn’t completely straightforward, but nine times out of ten, you’ll be able to do what you want without issue. And it evolves beyond just climbing and jumping that you see in games like Uncharted, Tomb Raider, and other adventure games.
While the graphics are amazing, it’s the sound that really brings the world to life and makes it feel real. Different sounds depend on each weapon, and each enemy will also have distinct sounds, acting as audio cues to their plans and attacks. This not only aids gameplay but also increases immersion, and it looks fantastic with standard 5.1 surround sound support. The sounds are varied, and there are a lot of audio options to tweak, although not as many as I would like. Most importantly, there is the option to turn subtitles on and off.
