Get ready for interdimensional wall-crawling action with Spider-Man: Edge of Time. Developed by Beenox and released in 2011, Edge of Time is a standalone follow-up to Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions. This time around, Spider-Men of two eras must work together to save their timelines from a deadly new threat.

Edge of Time stars classic Spider-Man Peter Parker and futuristic counterpart Miguel O’Hara, aka Spider-Man 2099. When the nefarious Walker Sloan travels back to rewrite history for his company Alchemax, it creates ripples affecting both time periods. Parker and O’Hara establish a mental link across time, allowing them to communicate. As actions in one era affects the other, the Spider-Men must align to stop Sloan’s dangerous meddling.

Gameplay involves alternating between the two Spider-Men, who control similarly but have unique abilities. Parker can activate a hyper-sense to pulverize foes, while O’Hara can create hologram decoys for stealthy takedowns. Iconic Spider-Man moves like web swinging and wall crawling return, along with upgrade systems to unlock new combos, costumes, and more. Boss battles against villains like Anti-Venom also punctuate the dimensional hopping.

With its time travel premise allowing the contrast of two Spider-Man worlds, Edge of Time succeeds at showcasing fascinating alternate versions of web-head lore. The performances of Josh Keaton and Christopher Daniel Barnes as Parker and O’Hara also stand out. It may lack innovation, but fans who enjoy Spidey’s blend of action and wisecracks should get a kick out of this dimensional duo’s team-up.
