Aladdin GBA ROM Description

Disney’s beloved classic Aladdin makes its way to Game Boy Advance in this adaptation of the 1993 Super NES platformer. While it doesn’t fully capture the brilliance of the film, Aladdin on GBA delivers solid hop-and-bop action for Disney fans.

Originally set to coincide with the Special Edition DVD, this portable rendition came out a bit late. But even after over a decade, the game design still holds up reasonably well. Developers tweaked the SNES original to better fit handheld play. Though it lacks innovation, Aladdin serves up an enjoyable dose of familiar Disney fun.

As Aladdin or his monkey pal Abu, players run, jump, and throw apples at foes through the busy streets of Agrabah. Collect gems for extra lives, scarabs to access bonus rounds, and red jewels to see the secret ending. With challenging platforming and a significant difficulty, Aladdin keeps you on your toes.

The vibrant sprites and backgrounds retain the slick animation and visual flair Capcom perfected in the 90s. From the iconic “A Whole New World” magic carpet ride to the chaotic escape from the Cave of Wonders, key scenes from the film get translated into engaging side-scrolling levels.

However, the music is a letdown. The GBA’s downgraded versions of the classic songs lack the punch and personality of the film’s soundtrack. You’ll wish for the real musical numbers.

For a game based on such a groundbreaking animated epic, Aladdin plays things very safe from a design perspective. Aside from a few rug levels, it sticks to standard hopping and apple throwing. Still, the platforming action is polished and satisfying.

This GBA edition adds handy cartridge saving and an exclusive bonus level over the SNES original. While it doesn’t fully capture the magic of a true Disney classic, it distills Aladdin’s adventure into an enjoyable portable package.

Relive the story of the street rat turned prince of Agrabah. If you’re looking for a solid piece of Disney nostalgia on the go, Aladdin on GBA hits the right notes. The game may be over ten years old itself, but it holds up reasonably well for Disney fans up for a bit of old-school platforming fun.

Download Disney’s Aladdin and escape into the colorful world of Agrabah anytime, anywhere on Game Boy Advance.
