Blue Kaizo is a decent hack of the GBC Pokemon game. Since it is the sequel to Blue Kaizo, Pokemon Crystal Kaizo fills this need. This game is good, and it doesn’t even matter if you didn’t play the prequel. Having a slight increase in difficulty is acceptable.

Plot

The first part of the plot is nearly identical to that of Pokémon Crystal. Upon beginning your quest, the first person you encounter is your adversary.

While he is speaking, a wild Pidgey suddenly approaches and kidnaps him. When Professor Oak comes over to observe what’s going on, he recognizes that this is no ordinary Pokemon battle, and that it appears like your opponent (or at least his Pokemon) has been taken over by an outside force. That’s why the professor has dispatched another of his young apprentices (you) to go and save them.

Head east from Viridian City; Oak says you don’t need to worry about catching additional Pokemon just now because there are many in the area. After a short while, you’ll emerge from Pewter City and be surrounded by Team Rocket members who have been tipped off by their teammates.

Game features

The game offers 252 different Pokemon for you to capture, and it has some neat extras, but there’s one you really must get your hands on. We warned you that the game is challenging but fun if you’re up for it. All Eevee evolutions are possible with the purchase of an Evolution Stone. Get the Umbreon Moon Stone and the Espeon Sun Stone to advance their respective evolutions. Except for Slowking, which can only evolve with a Water Stone, all Pokemon that need trade will evolve automatically. Furthermore, there’s the chance of getting a Shiny from an Odd Egg. The teams of Gym Leaders and the Elite Four each consist of six regular members and one Shiny.

Here is a summary of the outstanding features of this ROM hack.

• Both leveling up and being Politoed can improve one’s trade skills.
• With a Net Ball, the player may fish for wild Pokemon in the ocean.
• The Player can’t just run away from combat; he or she must defeat all foes in the region first.
• Any shiny Pokémon (starter, dratini, larvitar, magby, smoochum, elekid, eevee, or one of two tyrogues) is all you’ll get from the daycare man’s Odd Egg.
• Over twenty new attacks, plus several more that have been altered or removed entirely. Because of inherent limitations, certain techniques may never hit their intended target (e.g., Thunderbolt may be ineffective against Water Types).
• For uniformity, most Elemental Punches have been rendered physical, and there have been adjustments to TM and HM.
• Dark Ice Mountain, the new dungeon, is a big mountain covered in heavy snow that will freeze you if you stay there for too long. It’s also home to several frozen caverns inhabited by Pokemon nobody has ever seen.
• The national park is the best place to catch a wide variety of bug pokémon. There could be something extraordinary if you seek it.
