Prepare your flippers for Pin Bot, a digital recreation for the Nintendo Entertainment System of the iconic Williams pinball table. This vintage video pinball game, created by Rare and released by Nintendo in 1990, transports the tinkling sound of actual pinball into your living room.
Scoring points by striking targets and doing tasks over the vibrant playfield with an extraterrestrial theme is the aim. In order to travel to the Sun, you must destroy drop targets, illuminate the visor grid, and navigate through the planets. For additional points, lock the balls and activate the multiball modes.
Pin Bot is quite good at simulating the sound, feel, and appearance of real pinball. The experience is enriched by the boxy robot’s voice and the intricate playfield graphics. Use the controller buttons to gently prod the machine, and timing your flipper shots to keep the ball alive.
With additional features, Rare improves the NES adaptation. As you progress through the stages, more dangers appear on the playfield. Balls are dropped by planes, snagged by snakes from the outlanes, and attempted to be eaten by blobs. It even changes from a spherical to a wedge to a cube!
