John was excited to start his Pokemon adventure. Living in a small town in the Unova region, he had heard many tales of kids just like him setting off to become Pokemon Masters. But at 17, he thought he had missed his chance.
That all changed when his friend Bianca came calling. She worked as an assistant to the Pokemon Professor Juniper and had received some new Pokemon for trainers to choose from – Snivy, Tepig or Oshawott. Without hesitation, John selected Tepig as his first partner.
After receiving some last minute advice from his mother, John set off to explore the region. His goal was to battle the eight Gym Leaders and eventually face the Pokemon League Champion. But the peaceful times did not last. Rumors started to swirl of a new criminal group calling themselves Team Plasma who were forcefully taking Pokemon from their trainers.
John’s childhood friend Hugh had fallen victim to their plots. Driven by vengeance, Hugh insisted on traveling with John to try and regain his stolen Pokemon. Their adventures would take them all across the expanded Unova region, with new cities, routes and even legendary Pokemon to encounter.
Through it all, John continued to train and bond with his team, evolving Tepig into a mighty Emboar. Their strength would be put to the test against the devious plans of Team Plasma and their enigmatic new leader Colress. Most shocking of all was their plan to freeze Unova in an eternal ice using the power of the dragon/ice type Kyurem.
After a climactic battle, John emerged victorious and Team Plasma was defeated once more. With the region safe, he set his sights on the Pokemon League. There, he bested every Gym Leader and finally defeated Iris to become the new Champion. John’s journey had come to an end, but the bonds with his Pokemon would last a lifetime.
