In Hotel Mario, Bowser has turned Princess Peach’s kingdom into his own personal resort. He and the Koopalings have established 7 wacky themed hotels, holding the princess captive. Now it’s up to Mario and Luigi to shut down these hotels and save the day.
The gameplay has you closing doors on each single-screen stage. You control Mario moving between floors on elevators, jumping on enemies, and sealing doors. It starts simple but quickly becomes challenging as new enemies and elevator routes are introduced. Strategically close doors to trap foes while navigating floors to stomp them.
With mushrooms for extra hits and fire flowers for throwing fireballs, Mario uses his skills to outwit tricky enemies. Bullet Bills, Wigglers, flying foes, and more will try to thwart your door shutting spree. Patient players will eventually clear all doors on a stage and move onto the next wacky hotel.
Hotel Mario brings the Mario charm with its quirky themes like the haunted Magma Meister Castle and Wendy’s icy Blitz Snarlton Hotel. The CD-i’s animated cutscenes add to the zany atmosphere. At the end of each hotel, beat one of Bowser’s Koopalings to progress.
