Return to the legendary city of Baldur’s Gate in this 2004 hack-and-slash RPG sequel. Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance II brings co-op adventuring, deeper customization and new characters to PlayStation 2.
Pick from five distinct classes, like the brute barbarian Dorn or dexterous monk Vhaidra. Each hero has their own style of combat and spells to master across the 25 hour campaign. Strengthen your warriors by allocating experience and ability points when leveling up. The wide range of weapons and loot offer plenty of customization too.
This time, the story focuses solely on Baldur’s Gate rather than the Sword Coast. A new threat looms as your party tries to solve a string of murders and prevent the evil return of the Onyx Tower. The writing brings humor and memorable moments between bloody battles against goblin marauders, undead beasts, dragons and more.
While some felt the sequel didn’t innovate much on the first game, the satisfying combat and cooperative play still shine. Cleaving through swarms of foes with a friend is a bloody delight. Side quests and secret characters like Drizzt Do’Urden add replayability. The action RPG foundations remain strong.
