God Hand is an action beat-’em-up game developed and published by Clover Studio for the PlayStation 2. It was released in 2006 in Japan and North America and 2007 in Europe and Australia.

The game follows the story of Gene, a man with a powerful, supernatural arm called the “God Hand,” as he battles against various enemies and bosses. Gene’s God Hand allows him to perform powerful attacks and combos, and the player can customize the abilities of the God Hand by using special moves called “Rings.”

Plot

Once upon a time, the world was on the verge of destruction until a man vanquished Angra and encapsulated the godlike abilities of Angra into his arms. This individual, who would later be known as “God Hand,” inspired both dread and reverence among the populace. According to an urban legend, whoever obtained such hands would be endowed with great power capable of transforming them into a god or a demon.

The story continues in a tiny village where bandits have taken over with superhuman power. Gene, a rough-around-the-edged vagabond, makes his way to the dangerous region and helps protect a woman harassed by a violent crowd. Gene cannot stop these thugs from beating him, and they cut off his right arm before he passes out. Despite his heroic attempts, he is defeated.

Later on, when he comes, he discovers that his arm has been restored to its previous state and that he now has the fabled “God Hand.” Soon, the weight of constantly being pursued by demonic forces looking for the right hand of God will start to set in.

Gameplay

It is judgment day in God’s Hand, and players take on the role of Gene, attempting to fend off the demons for the prized appendage by defending themselves against them. Even though he may have been given the might of the almighty, it will not be easy for him to hold his enemies at bay as evil approaches from all angles for the decisive battle.

It is advantageous to have a diverse array of movements available, as this makes it much simpler and more enjoyable to deal with lethal strikes and execute crushing attacks. By releasing the might of the God Hand, you may disintegrate every foe into the same dust that sweeps across the town and cast forth the evil spirits that control the residents. Because there is almost infinite number of possible combos, players can juggle their foes in the air and then destroy them with impressive finishing moves. It is now time for Armageddon!
