But simulation requires zen-like concentration, punishing the smallest throttle error. Upper-tier AI foes aggressively seize on mistakes, leading to thrilling corner battles. Contact between bikes has light consequences, though, enabling some exploitative tactics. Track cutting also goes inconsistently punished.
Visually, blurring speed impresses, but some tracks feel plain. New additions like Indianapolis help freshen things. Audio pops with differentiated engine notes between classes and teams. Approachability increased over the harsh PS2 debut, but expert riders will still find ample challenge.
Online modes disappoint, however. You can only race one event at a time, with no championships. Customization is limited too. Next year’s edition must expand features to match modern racing games.
For now, MotoGP 08’s robust physics provide a satisfying test for returning fans. Rookies may find it dauntingly authentic. If you want a deep two-wheeled test, buckle up and get ready to lean hard into the curves. Just be prepared to crash often as you learn the ropes.
