SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs ROM Description

SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs is a tactical shooter video game developed by Zipper Interactive and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. The game was released in 2002 for the PlayStation 2 platform, and has since been released for a variety of other platforms.

In SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs, players control a team of elite U.S. Navy SEALs operatives as they carry out a variety of military operations around the world. The game features a wide range of weapons and equipment, and players can choose which weapons and gear they want to use in each mission.

Player takes charge of a four-man team of US Navy SEALs (three of whom are controlled by AI) over 12 missions spread across Alaska, Thailand, Congo, and Turkmenistan in the future of 2006 and 2007. To give orders in the single-player missions, you may either use the SOCOM headset, which is sold separately, or the USB headset supplied with the game. Missions often involve eliminating terrorists, rescuing hostages, recovering intelligence, or destroying terrorist strongholds.

Kahuna is the player character’s codename, and Boomer, Spectre, and Jester are the names given to the NPCs who work with them. The gang is broken up into Alpha and Bravo teams. The player and Boomer (the Able component) make up Alpha, while the other two are part of Bravo. The player can issue orders to either an individual or the entire team at once; for instance, they might tell team Bravo to hold their position while they go on a reconnaissance mission with Boomer. But the player can not go off on their own on a map; if they go too far away from Boomer, Kahuna will start following them again, no matter what the player tells him to do. Before every mission, briefings and intelligence like maps and images are provided.
