Prepare yourself for hilarious journeys with the Family Guy Video Game! The three playable characters in this PSP version of the renowned animated sitcom are Peter, Brian, and Stewie. Each features a distinct goal with all of the iconic shenanigans that fans have come to expect. Even though the gameplay may use some improvement, this unusual group gets through the chaos thanks to constant humor.
In the absurd plots, Stewie has to deal with a new wicked baby competitor, Brian is set up to get pregnant by a dog, and Peter believes Mr. Belvedere is pursuing him. The show’s ensemble does a terrific job with their voices, which helps the gags flow quickly even with the weak connections. Even if some of the speech is repeated from previous episodes, much of it seems new and really humorous.
Unfortunately, comedy cannot make up for the dull gameplay. Though each character belongs to a different genre, all three have problems. Navigate through challenging stages as Stewie and destroy enemies. Jumping can be difficult, especially up lengthy series of platforms, due to slow controls. Peter fights his way through repetitious beat-’em-up scenes with the same foes. His combat is shallow and unchallenging.
Brian’s tiresome stealth parts are the worst. While doing monotonous jobs, stay away from opponents and restart whenever you see them. Tight guard patterns need memorization via trial and error. You will still fail due to strange detection oddities even if you do well. Despite humorous writing, these approaches are unsatisfactory.
The unrestrained irreverence of Family Guy is not deterred by subpar gameplay. Nevertheless, you wish there had been more to the brief trip.
