Marvel’s Metal Avenger Underperforms in the PC Iron Man Port
Iron Man sputters miserably on PC after successes on PS2 and PSP. There are no additional content or graphics improvements in this version, which is a direct transfer of those versions. PC gamers should expect more from the Armored Avenger, despite its murky graphics and monotonous gameplay.
Throughout more than 15 missions, Iron Man throws you into Tony Stark’s gleaming armor. But this jumbled tale lacks the character moments of the popular movie, and it scarcely resembles it. Cutscenes are also really awful. The models are appalling, even though Terrence Howard and Robert Downey Jr. give life to their parts.
Positively, you may personalize Stark’s armor and strengthen skills like missiles and repulsors by utilizing them frequently. This motivates you to discover a playstyle that works for you both on the ground and in the air.
Flattened graphics, however, reduce immersion. The PC adaptation had blocky models and boring graphics, leaving no room for improvement over the PS2’s flaws. The experience is further ruined by shadow problems. Places are uninteresting and easily forgotten.
Even worse, there are no thrills in the gameplay. Iron Man’s characteristic aerial fighting is not depicted in the action as he stiffly hovers above firing enemies. Because of weak AI, enemies also present little threat. Slicing through stupid drones and tanks isn’t satisfying.
Iron Man on PC feels like an afterthought, with no improvements over the less impressive console versions. Its gameplay and plot are uninteresting, and its gaudy graphics undercut the strength of your platform. Avoid this uninspiring version if you want to experience a really heroic Iron Man on PC.
Look for a classic PC adventure like Iron Man and X-O Manowar in Heavy Metal if you must dress like Tony Stark. Alternatively, try the Marvel’s Avengers video game for a modern thrill. The renowned hero is not well represented by this specific PC version.
