LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean – The Video Game ROM Description
The LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game for portable devices is quite similar to the LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game for consoles, but it has less complex visuals, fewer and smaller levels with their own unique level and puzzle design, and a dueling gameplay mechanism.
Players are able to go through the events of all four Pirates of the Caribbean movies in the handheld edition, just as they are able to do so in the console game. The portable version was published as a tie-in with On Stranger Tides. Some of the cutscenes from the console version have been repurposed, while others have been remade entirely to accommodate the new layout. The portable version only has four levels for each movie, but the console version has five levels each movie.
The actual gameplay is based on the same formula that was used in prior LEGO games: players progress through the levels by taking control of many characters, each of which possesses unique powers; these characters’ talents must be combined in order to vanquish foes and solve puzzles. Unlocking bonuses requires players to collect LEGO studs, bricks, and a variety of other objects, such as medallions and rum bottles. The handheld version of the game includes a feature that is exclusive to it called pirate duels. During these duels, players are required to quickly press a button when they are prompted to do so. This is followed by a quick-time event in which two out of three of the indicated buttons need to be hit for a successful strike against the opponent.
