Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable is a role-playing game (RPG) in the Persona series developed by Atlus. The game was released for the PlayStation Portable (PSP) in 2009 and is an enhanced version of the original Persona 3 released for the PlayStation 2 (PS2) in 2006.
In Persona 3 Portable, the player takes on the role of a high school student who joins the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad (SEES), a group of students who have the power to summon Personas. These powerful entities represent their inner selves. SEES is tasked with investigating and defeating the mysterious Shadows that appear at night and threaten the world.
The game features turn-based battles, social link-building, and daily life simulation. In addition to combat, players must also manage their everyday life by building relationships, studying, working part-time, and more. Building relationships with other characters, known as Social Links, allows players to strengthen their Personas and unlock new abilities.
Persona 3 Portable has a female main character and a new point of view on the story. This lets players see the game’s events and characters differently. The game also includes new dungeons and Personas and will enable players to switch between difficulty levels at any time.
