In the sci-fi shooter 0 Day Attack on Earth, alien invaders are out for our annihilation and only a few brave pilots stand between humanity and extinction. This 2009 Xbox 360 exclusive promised intense twin-stick shooting action as players defend iconic cities, but it failed to deliver on nearly every front. With frustrating allied AI, repetitive enemies, and punishing difficulty, this is one disappointingly mediocre game.
0 Day Attack on Earth tasks 1-4 players with protecting Paris, New York, and Tokyo from an overwhelming alien onslaught. The twin-stick controls are simple – move with the left stick, shoot with the right. Clear objectives focus on defeating major alien bosses before the timer expires. But swarms of smaller UFOs and emerging ground forces also require attention. Power-ups like flamethrowers offer enhanced firepower, desperately needed for the resilient bosses.
It’s a straightforward setup, but very poor execution hampers the experience. Your AI companions are incompetent, barely assisting against bosses and wasting shots on minor targets. The challenge quickly grows crushing without their meaningful support. Enemies get repetitive across the short campaign and environments, though visually accurate, lose distinction in the chaotic combat. With no online players currently, multiplayer does little to alleviate the situation.
The result is a brutally difficult slog through indistinguishable city skies. 0 Day Attack on Earth lacks clever enemies, distinctive level design, capable allies, and the essential thrills expected of a shooter. It squanders great concepts like multiplayer and real city locations with terrible design decisions and technical shortcomings. This is one disappointing game not worth your time or money.
