You are Jeremy, a member of a holy order sworn to wipe out the vampire menace. But after being forcibly bound to the vampire Alysa, you must reluctantly join forces to stop an even greater supernatural threat.
Blood Knights’ moody gothic settings let you battle vampires, demons, and more across misty forests, crumbling castles, and forgotten ruins. Switch between Jeremy’s heavy sword strikes and Alysa’s crossbow at will in single player, or team up with a friend locally as the mismatched duo in co-op.
Gather loot to upgrade your heroes’ abilities, taking down growing swarms of enemies with specialized skills and powers. Face off against hulking bosses like the Blood Fox and unleash your fury in challenging arena battles.
While the characters and story fail to impress, hacking apart vampires and werewolves with Blood Knight’s satisfying combat goes a long way. The top-down perspective keeps the action tight, even if the animations can look stiff. And plowing through enemies in bloody slow motion after building up your power meter never gets old.
Some technical issues like frame rate dips keep Blood Knights from fully realizing its potential. But there’s still plenty of B-movie vampire hunting action to enjoy in this woefully underrated Xbox Live Arcade title. Slay solo or partner up for twice the Van Helsing vibes.
