Call of Duty: Black Ops ROM Description

The first-person shooter Call of Duty: Black Ops was created by Treyarch and released by Activision; in Japan, the game was distributed by Square Enix. The Mac version of the game was released on September 27, 2012, following its initial release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, Nintendo DS, and PC on November 9, 2010.

As the sequel to 2008’s Call of Duty: World at War, Black Ops shifts the series’ focus from World War II to the Cold War era of the 1960s. Alex Mason, a member of the elite US covert operations team Studies and Observations Group (SOG), is the protagonist of the single-player game. Throughout the game, players witness various events spanning six years as Mason investigates a Soviet plot commanded by General Nikita Dragovich and involves a deadly nerve poison known as “Nova-6.”

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer feature returns with several improvements, including as a new cash system called “CODPoints,” gained via normal gameplay, emblems and character looks that may be customized, and the inclusion of wager matches and combat training. Call of Duty: World at War’s iconic Zombies Mode is also back, with two base scenarios and four more available as downloadable content (DLC).

Players take control of Alex Mason, who is hallucinating random sequences of numbers and having flashbacks to prior events during the game’s main single-player campaign. The storyline spans the entirety of the Cold War, from different locales and wars to Mason’s current condition. New to the Call of Duty franchise are aspects like controlling helicopters and aircraft, which are featured prominently in this game’s many set pieces.

Black Ops also has a wide variety of period-appropriate and experimental firearms. This is because black operations personnel frequently had access to experimental and production weapons before they were issued to regular troops. Shotguns loaded with incendiary rounds and crossbows with exploding arrow tips are only two of the game’s renowned weapons.

Cooperatively, players in Black Ops’ Zombies mode take on waves of zombies, with additional scenarios available via downloadable content. New wonder weapons, traps, and difficult terrain are just a few of how these maps stand out from the pack.

All of the weapons from the multiplayer mode are available in the single-player campaign, plus a few more. These weapons add to the Cold War era feel by giving players various options for defending themselves.

Finally, the Zombies mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops provides a novel cooperative challenge on top of the game’s engrossing single-player story and rich multiplayer experience. The game’s setting in the Cold War era and authentic and experimental weaponry enhance the experience. Fans of the Call of Duty franchise and first-person shooters in general will enjoy Black Ops.
