Kinzie is celebrating her birthday, and the whole Saints Row cast and crew is there to celebrate! Unfortunately, Matt had a Ouija board with him, and it ended up calling Satan and dragging the Boss farther into Hell. They are followed by Gat and Kinzie in an effort to save their boss. It is there that they will come face to face with friends from the past, such as Dane Vogel and Dex, as well as historical luminaries, such as Shakespeare and Blackbeard.

When compared to Saints Row IV, Saints Row: Gat out of Hell is a successor that is more like an add-on. The absence of story missions is the primary variation from the main game; the progression of the plot is determined by completing a sufficient number of side missions. When a sufficient amount of chaos has been caused, a cutscene will begin, and a new sort of side quest will become available. It is time for the player to confront the final boss after the third cutscene has been completed.
